Brecon and Radnor Express
Brecon and Radnor Express

Dear Editor,

I recently (Tuesday 20th April 2018) spent the day shadowing Brecon’s Dial-A-Ride because I wanted to learn more about Community Transport Services.

It was wonderful to see how the small team of dedicated staff and volunteers go the extra mile for their service users carrying shopping and genuinely looking out for the people they serve. The service users know and trust the Dial-A-Ride team and it was great to see how those on board the bus have formed friendships with each other.

I asked everyone who got on the bus what difference Dial-A-Ride makes to them and every time I got the same resounding reply – “without it I just wouldn’t be able to get out and about”.

Rural villages, often without a service bus, are connected with Dial-A-Ride. Brecon town, Crickhowell and Talgarth all benefit from the excellent service too.

So I want to say thank you to the Dial-A-Ride staff, the volunteers and the service users who make it the brilliant, caring and friendly service it is. You’ve served our community for forty years and I wish you every success for the next forty.

Yours sincerely,

Cllr Matthew Dorrance
County Councillor for Brecon, St John
